Diets often don't work as hoped |

| Hello! Throughout history, a person's diet has been seen as a powerful method of achieving or maintaining health.
But is this true? A quick look at social media reveals thousands of specialized diets aimed at addressing everything from weight to fertility.
But check out the comments. Few people really see results and almost no one gets long-term improvements from ONLY diet changes.
Here is what I've learned in almost 30 years of observing hundreds of different diets:
1: Except in some very rare instances, changing your diet is unlikely to cure or stably improve most health problems once these problems are established.
2: Eating correctly can prevent some health problems from occurring and may slow the progression of others.
3: Eating to reduce stress on your body, especially your immune system, is essential to do ALONG WITH an effective, targeted treatment program.
My advice: Get an accurate evaluation of your health problems from a competent professional before embarking on a series of diets to try and cure yourself.
You may save a lot of time and frustration. The months or years you may spend attempting to do ineffective diets can allow your health problems to become much worse before you eventually start treating them.

Patient Stories OK, Let's Try Something New! I came into the clinic with headaches, weight problems, and low self-esteem. I started the program thinking, OK, let's try something new. All the diets I'd tried before to lose weight had kept me depressed because of not being able to stick with them. This is my second week and I no longer have headaches, I have started to feel a change in how my clothes fit and my self-esteem has improved. I have become much more conscious of what I'm eating and what is in the food I am eating. A little knowledge goes a long way. Just being informed of what is in the food can make someone not want to eat it. — J.K.O. |
